The main rainy months are December, January and February and, after the countryside has been drenched with much needed water, the magic begins. It never ceases to amaze me how plants can withstand such intense changes in temperature yet still survive.
Spring in Cyprus - Best Time to Visit
Spring is, in my opinion, the best time to visit Cyprus as, once the middle of March arrives, every wild flower imaginable literally springs into life and the countryside is awash with the most amazing display of flora. It's an absolute pleasure to go walking in Cyprus at this time.
The pink and white almond blossoms appear early from the beginning of February onwards, but as February can be a rainy month, visitors are best waiting a few weeks longer and coming to Cyprus between mid March and end April to get the best of the weather, the best views and, of course, the chance to see some of the beautiful wild flowers, including stunning orchids and fragrant wild herbs.
I could wax lyrically for hours about how much I love spring in Cyprus, not least as it's the best time to cycle and walk on the many trails on the island. But rather than do that, I'm just going to let you look at some of the pictures I've taken during springtime to show the wonderful flower displays, and also to capture the amazing light we experience in the spring months, before the heat of summer starts to build.
Clear, bright, warm and sunny days are the norm and they are the absolute best time to enjoy the great outdoors and get a tan without boiling like a lobster, unless of course, that's what you like to do in July/August, when the majority of tourists visit the island.
Tip: Don't forget your camera in spring - it's probably more important than the sun tan lotion!
