Tip 1: Don't always go with a Cyprus car hire brand you already know. They MAY offer air miles with every booking but they are often more EXPENSIVE and you have to stand in a BIG queue to get your car at the airport as everyone else has booked with the same firm!

Special Tip: Europe Car usually has the biggest queue at the arrivals hall - you can be waiting for over an hour just to get your keys!
Tip 2: Don't waste time searching different car rental sites for the best prices, Just use a comparison site where, believe me as I've checked, the prices are usually lower than actually going direct to the sites themselves.
Tip 3: If you're happy to wait till you get to Cyprus, you can often get a cheap rental car in your resort if you shop around for half an hour. I've seen rates as low as EUR €9 per day in low season from local car hire firms eager to rent their vehicles.
Tip 4: Check your INSURANCE details carefully. Many firms do not include "sump" insurance as standard and if you take your vehicle off road on one of the many bumpy tracks and break the sump...you will have both a headache AND a big bill from the car hire company.

Special Tip: Many Cyprus roads have potholes and, after heavy rain, verges have huge dangerous gullies in them so even the most cautious driver can break a wheel!
Tip 5: Always ask what the policy is on FUEL. Many car hire firms charge you up front for a full tank of fuel...at a MUCH higher rate than you would pay at the pumps. And some even ask you to bring it back with a full tank as well! Make sure you just bring it back with the same amount of fuel as when you started. If the company won't agree to this, BOOK ELSEWHERE!
