Cyprus currency

The Euro has been the currency used in Cyprus since January 2008. Previously it was the Cyprus pound.

The exchange rate when it was CYP was 1 CYP = 1.2 GBP ie. 20% more. When Cyprus joined the Euro, the rate was set at 1 CYP to 1.71 Euros. At the time sterling was worth around 1.4 euros but now it's only 1.15 euros so everything seems expensive to British people compared to hwat it was 5 years ago.

That's true for those of us who live here too though.
