I want to walk a part of the way E4, I think over 10-14days, so 250-300km, on Cyprus. Could you give me some information about route finding, maybe GPS dates maps and accommodation options in daily sections, or is it nessesary to walk with tend?

I know this are a lot of special questions and I hope you are the person who can help me. Informations about this way are difficult to find.

Thank you,
just now
and many greetings

E4 trail in Cyprus best parts
by: Helen (website owner)

If you want to walk around a third of the E4 trail here in Cyprus I would suggest you choose a route covering the sections in the Paphos district as well as part of the western Troodos section.

Accommodation options are limited (as I have already indicated in this post on the E4) in the forest areas, whereas if you walk in the Paphos/ Polis area you will be closer to towns/villages where is accommodation.

You need to use Google Earth/Google maps to plan your journey and I suggest you download the Paphos area map which clearly shows the E4 sections marked in green. The most scenic parts of the route are on the north west near Polis and also leading into the mountains towards Troodos.

Google search accommodation options in/around the main towns/villages of Polis/Latchi/Pegeia/Lysos/Kathikas/Drouseia/Goudi/Kritou Tera/Peristerona/Tsada/Episkopi/Koili, all of which are on or near the E4 trail.

If you are planning a maximum of 20-25 km per day, then in some cases you may need to camp, one option of which is at Stavros forest station (see previous post above for more details). The E4 section along the Akamas coast between Agios Georgios is long and there is no place to stay in this remote area, so you may need to deviate from the route eg. to stay in Neo Chorio village, or camp in the outdoors near the beach.

See my pages on accommodation in Polis or visit the Agrotourism site in Cyprus for village house options.

It takes a long time to plan a suitable route depending on where you plan to walk, but hopefully my suggestion of starting in the Paphos area eg. at Paphos airport which is near the route, should give you a starting point.

I would recommend buying the Rother walking guide to Cyprus which has many of the sections of the E4 and will help with your planning.

Good luck
