Travel from Paphos to Lefke in North Cyprus
by: Helen

Lefke is situated in the Turkish controlled NORTH of the island, close to the large town of Guzelyurt (Turkish name) or Morphou as it is known in Greek.

To get there from Paphos airport, you will need to cross the border. The quickest option is to drive to Polis from Paphos, then onwards along the north west coast road to Kato Pyrgos and cross the border just outside the town. The crossing is called Limnitis.

It takes around 1.5 hours from Paphos airport to Limnitis. You then need to allow around 15 minutes for paperwork/queues at the border and then you have about an hour's drive to Lefke from the border via Guzelyurt/Morphou.

You are unlikely to get a taxi driver to take you across the border from Paphos airport so you are best booking in advance either with a taxi firm in the South willing to cross or one from the North.

If you don't want to take a taxi, you could take a bus instead but you will have to change many times. It may then be easier but far longer to travel via Nicosia where you cross the border on foot at Ledra street in Nicosia then take a bus or taxi to Lefke from there.
