Walking across Cyprus.

(Protaras, Cyprus)

My name is Mike and I will be walking the E4 route from Cape Greko in Famagusta all the way through to Paphos for charity in October. I have been looking online for places to stay along the way, and while there are many campsites and areas from troodos to Paphos, I haven't been able to find much from Cape Greko and through the Larnaca region. Would you have any recommendations or a list of campsites/ b&bs covering these areas, or even better, the whole route?

I would also love to know if anybody has attempted the whole route in one go before and if you have any recommendations on what to see along the way? I do not mind going off route a little if there are things worth straying a little for, and I am not on any strict time scale, as I would like to get the most out of the experience. I was thinking between 3 and 4 weeks, this is with staying on certain places for a couple of nights.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated!

Regards,

Mike Stephanou

Walking the E4 in Cyprus

I can't help much with accommodation in the Larnaca area as I'm based near Polis. You can check my camping page for a list of the campsites but they are either in Troodos or nearer Paphos and many are not on the E4 trail.

It's a tall order to walk it in 3 weeks as that would mean 30k EACH day on average which is a good 7-8 hours on foot each day even for a fit walker. Plus it won't give a lot of time for sight seeing!

I've only cycled/walked on the western (near Paphos) and Troodos sections of the trail and scenery in the mountains is beautiful with pine forest trails and UNESCO fresco painted churches plus picturesque mountain villages to visit.

I suggest you work out how far you can walk each day then calculate how far along the E4 you can get each day to work out roughly where you'll need to stay each night. Then google accommodation/agrotorism etc in that area.

Good luck
