Mystery Tavern, Polis

My husband and I recently returned from Cyprus (Feb 2009) and often ate at the Mystery Tavern. The food and atmosphere was great. Best calamari ever!

Still craving it :-)
Lovely fresh fish caught by the owner. You can then pick your fish and it is prepared nicely on the grill.
The prices were reasonable and the extra dessert on the house was an added bonus.
Would highly recommend The Mystery Tavern.

This is one place that you certainly MUST visit in Polis for that traditional Cypriot cuisine.

This restaurant holds a very special place in my heart, as it has been a regular eatery every time we visit Cyprus, and has been for many years. We love this place so much that upon getting married in Cyprus 2 years ago, Mystery's was the place that we chose for our reception Meze, with around 20 guests. There really wasn't anywhere we would rather have celebrated our big day than amongst our family and friends and the Rossidhs family making us all very welcome, and nothing was too much trouble.

The food is amazing, and the family are the kindest I've ever met.
The whole experience is amazing and every inch a typical village taverna.

I strongly reccomend the Meze (but you may have to ask Savvas to stop bringing the food, as even the biggest of eaters struggle to keep up lol)...and the garlic bread is to die for.
Give it all a try and you wont be disappointed x

Mystery family tavern, Polis

The Mystery also serves an excellent meat meze for 13 Euros a head. Unlike many meat mezes this one has several vegetarian dishes in it too so is not as heavy to eat.

The restaurant is popular with Cypriot locals which is always a good sign. Don't be put off by the "family" word in the restaurant title, it's just that Cypriot families often take their children there late at night and they usually go to sleep whilst the parents are eating!
