Cycling near Limassol Cyprus

(Louvaras Cyprus)

Just North of Limassol are some of the most beautiful and challenging forest trails. I don't think many people know this because they are not advertised by any organisation.

We do see cyclists, of all nationalities, training on the mountain roads.

Would love to start the ball rolling and let serious and leisure cyclists know about the vast areas so close to Limassol. Such a shame to miss out on this.

Very best regards,
Cyprus Wez.

Forest trails. Maramenos. 25k from highway.
by: Wez

Head North from the highway in Limassol onto the E110. Signposted Agia Fylaxi Agia Fylia. Continue through Palodeia then wind through the river bed and pass Gerassa on your left.

Look for a concrete water tank on your left by the turn for Louvaras. About one kilometre on you will see the little church of Ayios Paraskevee on your right. Fifty metres on your left is the Maramenos picnic site. There is a restaurant there run by John,(Yiannis). Ample parking, then strike off into the forest. Order your food before you leave and enjoy excellent food and drink on your return.

Will post some pictures soon, plus another trail in Kakomalis forest.

Mountain biking near Limassol
by: Helen

We know there are some great trails north of Limassol as the World Cup cross-country MTB series has a race there every March. Think they start from the Germasoia area.

We haven't tried the trails ourselves but I'm sure they are great just like heading away from the coast in almost every part of the island where there are mountains to be seen in the distance!

Thanks for the tip and please feel free to share a bit more detail like where to start a trail and perhaps a picture if you have one?

Thanks for sharing.

Helen
