Cashing travellers cheques in Limassol

I have been told that it will be very difficult to find anywhere in Limassol that will cash travellers cheques.

Where are the places that will still cash them ?

Hi Helen, thanks for your reply.

Apparently it is to do with American Express withdrawing due to high charges from the clearance house.

Well that is what I was told at the money exchange in Marks & Spencers. The cashier has asked me to let her know the situation when I return to UK!

I am taking a mix of currency and card so should be fine. : )

Travellers cheques in Cyprus

Not sure why it should be difficult. Just go to any bank!

You will, however, pay a cost to exchange your traveller cheques as all Cypriot banks charge a high fee, by Uk standards, for anything from a cheque book to doing a currency transfer. Cashing a foreign cheque (same applies to traveller cheque) costs around €7.50 euros regardless of the amount for instance.

I personally would recommend you take a pre-paid card in euros instead to save money. See my page on using currency cards for more information.
