AMBELOTHEA TAVERN, OMODHOS VILLAGE

by RALUKA
(LIMASSOL)

I have been in Omodhos and I could never forget a great place from where I have met people from all over the world. At this restaurant I had the pleasure to meet the owner, Mr. Phillip Makaritis who explained to me the ways and how do they give such a great taste to the food. Of course I was very suprised to see how many dishes can be on a table and how people got involved in their jobs. If you ever get close to this village at least go and take a look and you will surely go from there with some memories, good or bad. If you need any information you can contact me on this number: 97630282

Stou Kir Yanni
by: Felicia

Im romanian and have been in Omodos village many times. Its a nice touristic, small village, people are polite and very friendly.I have been in all the taverns in Omodos, all are nice, they offer good food, but the best tavern (its my opinion)is "Stou Kir Yanni".I dont find the right words to describe this tavern. Its a magical place! If somebody visit Omodos, its a "must have" to go also at this tavern. The owner ,Stavros, is the best owner-businessman I have met, talking about taverns-restaurants.He knows very well how to handle his tavern, he is doing a good marketing for his business. If some people does not trust my words, then, I invite them to come here one night. But, before to come, they must call Stavros, to reserve a table. Its always full! People from all over Cyprus , it does not matter the distance, come here.If you want to stay for one or more days, he has rooms to let, nice design, also, some guests-houses.Come to visit Omodos, come Stou Kir Yanni, and you will say "Felicia, you are right!"

Feedback on Ambelothea tavern
by: Anonymous

I worked in Ambelothea Tavern in 2005,I am from Romania. All the people there are very nice, except Phillip. He's too nervous and too proud. The meal is very good and the village is very, very nice. Maybe sometime I will come back, but like tourist, not like "slave"(Phillip treated me like that). Anyway I wish them all the best .John from Romania.

MAKRINARI TAVERN
by: Anonymous

Another excellent place to visit is MAKRINARI TAVERN, owned by Polis Makaritis, Philip's brother.
Makrinari is a restored old village house, in the middle of Omodhos. Every Friday and Saturday evening you can enjoy live Greek music. The food is excellent as well as the hospitality!

Omodhos village is beautiful
by: Helen

Even if you don't have time to eat in this tavern, DO visit Omodhos village in the heart of the Troodos mountains. The village is located about 8km south of Platres and you can spend many happy hours strolling through the streets and, of course, sampling the great food!
