Where to go for a quiet holiday in Cyprus

by Ramanika
(Nairobi)

My husband and I want to come for an off beat holiday in Cyprus, which is not too touristy. Could you suggest some places?

Agree, try Tavros Hotel Apts in Neo Chorio
by: Poate

This is a lovely, small, family-run hotel. Choose either a bedsit or separate bedroom. Cooking facilities, fridge, aircon, etc in every one.

The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful and the village has tavernas (try Smygies or the Kouppas stone tavern for Cypriot home cooking), post office, shop, bank, etc but retains charm aplenty.

The Akamas is a wonderful place for walks, bird-watching and picnics. And of course the bar and pool at the hotel are great. You can get breakfast there too if you wish although we prefer DIY.

Or spoil yourself with a drink, dinner or spa at the nearby Anassa although that is 5* with prices to match. There are more extensive shops in Latsi and Polis if you need them.

Best places for a quiet holiday without tourists in Cyprus
by: Helen(website owner)

Your best bet is to head for the north west of the island near Polis/Latchi. The area is beautifully unspoilt and, unless you come in peak Cyprus holiday season (August) it is not touristy and you are close to mountain villages like Neo Chorio, Fyti (great taverna at Maria's tavern!) or Lysos - close to the stunning forest areas.

Or you could head for the Troodos mountains - a different experience and only busy in August (when those who live on the island head there for cooler weather) or during the snow season (Feb-March).

See the various pages on the site for more information on Polis or Latchi and the unspoilt Akamas peninsula
