by Mike Strand

cat picture in car boot

Just left the boot of my car open to get a coat out and in jumped several cats. Agios Neophytos Monastery in Pafos has many many cats all very inquisitive.

The monastery is situated above Tala village high above Paphos and is a popular breeding ground for the local feline population.

Actually they already have a good home:)
by: Sintiya

I am sure that the cats there at Agios Neophitos Monastery Pafos are in good hands and it's the best home for them! They really do love them there!!!

Cyprus cats wanting a home
by: Helen

Great picture of the monastery cats. You do realise they just wanted a good home!

Or maybe they smelled something good in your car!

Update Novermber 2011 - I recently visited the monastery above Tala and saw dozens of cats all looking for food and/or cards to play with. There is a neutering programme in the area, but it looks like many of these cats have escaped it so far - at any rate the Tom cats certainly have!

As much as I love to take pictures of cats here in Cyprus, the neutering programmes are essential to minimise the number of strays who simply cannot survive in the heat of summer on their own unless some kind soul feeds them.
