I am going on holiday to Cyprus on 7th June. I am applying for a passport now, will it be ok to travel

Of course it will be fine for you to travel to Cyprus in June 2014 with a new passport issued in early 2014.

New passports now carry a chip, which makes it easy to use the new electronic passport controls (saving time) at most UK airports. Cyprus doesn't have electronic processing, but we don't really need it as there aren't that many flights compared to a busy UK airport.
