Olive rakes in Cyprus

by jan dodgson

We are in the midst of our olive harvest in New Zealand.

Neighbours have been here helping us - and came with these fabulous little olive rakes that they purchased in Cyprus.

They are far superior to the rakes we have and we would love to purchase several of them.

Despite hours of searching the internet we cannot find anywhere that sells them ... please can you help us?

Olive rakes
by: Jan Dodgson

Oh how I wish these were the ones I am trying to locate! These are the rakes we are currently using but there are obviously other types available in Cyprus.

Our friends who bought their rakes in Cyprus think they may be special rakes for harvesting tiny Koroneiki olives. The gaps in the 'teeth' are much narrower and the handle is far longer allowing for much more reach into the trees.

These Cyprus rakes were a joy to try and so much easier on my aching arms - harvest nearly complete for this year thankfully but would love to find some of these wonderful rakes for next year - maybe a visit to Cyprus might be the answer!

Thanks for your help nevertheless!

Where to buy olive rakes
by: Helen (website owner)

We buy ours from the local cooperative farm store here in Cyprus and they are very cheap!

Not sure why you can't get hold of them online as I just did a google search and came up with this in 30 seconds:

Where to buy plastic olive rakes.

Good luck with the olive harvest!
