Makrinari tavern in Omodhos (Troodos mountains)

by cecile
(Limassol Cyprus)

Makrinari is a traditional restaurant in Omodhos.
This old house has been restored carefully keeping it's old charm and character. It has everything to offer to all Cyprus cuisine lovers at very reasonable prices!
Every Friday and Sutarday night they have live greek music.
We went there on a Friday night (we were a group of seven), we had plenty to eat and drink, we danced and really enjoyed ourselves!

Amazing

We're staying at the Makrinari Tavern in the apartments above the restaurant, first two weeks in August (2011), we've been eating there for a few years now and I must say it's one of the friendliest places I think I've ever been and Polis the owner is a great character.

Troodos mountain restaurants
by: Helen

Thanks for the tip Cecile. Will try it for lunch next time we are in the Troodos area.

Omodhos is one of the best places to visit in Troodos. It is a little "touristy" but there are plenty of really good shops for souvenir shopping and plenty of interesting things to see like the museum.

My favourite shop is one on the main cobbled stone street selling naturally sugared dried fruits - mouthwatering favours like papaya, mango and kiwi. Yummy and a great reason to go back to Omodhos on a regular basis.
