Latchi Restaurants

Latchi is famous in Cyprus for its fish restaurants.
Situated adjacent to the pretty fishing harbour, restaurants in Lakki, as it is otherwise known, offer the perfect place to relax and watch the world go by with a fish meze and a glass of ouzo (octopus tastes especially good with ouzo!)

Fish, like anywhere in the world, is not cheap but many restaurants have special offers on fish platters which are great value. Standards do vary between tavernas so this page aims to educate you on where to go for the best fish in town...or any other meal should you not like fish.

Cyprus Seafood Restaurants in Lakki

PLUS - Probably the best place to go to sample a fish meze. Fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection. Staff are excellent. Any dishes in batter like fresh calamari are light and crisp, salads are large and filled with plenty of cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber, olives and lots of feta. The most popular restaurant with local Cypriots.

MINUS - Presentation if just ordering a particular fish is not great - it will be served on its own with chips and a salad (if ordered) on the side. NOT good for vegetarian food - their veggie platter is a plate of boiled veg!

PLUS - Good value for money and extensive menu other than seafood including curry. Very popular with local expats as they give discount to regular customers! VERY good staff.

MINUS - Eating experience can be good or average depending on which chef is working! Batter on calamari can be a bit soggy if the not-so-good chef is on.

PLUS - Cheap fish platter.

MINUS - The worst value for money salad and soup we have ever tasted. For €4.50 the tiny salad had a few lettuce leaves, watery tomatoes, 2 olives and a slice of cucumber plus a microscopic piece of feta. Fish soup was packet tomato with 4 tiny pieces of fish thrown in.

PLUS Nothing to say.

MINUS - Extensive menu means nothing is ever fresh in our experience. One visit was enough but poor comments have been made by many expats we know. Service was poor, more than an hour to get served.

PLUS Good for steak though not cheap. Lovely warm fire in winter.

MINUS - Service can be slow, especially if you order steak and it's frozen and they don't tell you it has to defrost first!

PLUS Good value fish meze and lovely location just outside the harbour area. Sit either inside or on the seafront.

MINUS - Some clients tell us that service is a little slow but the food is worth the wait.
