Holding an evening reception at a villa in Cyprus

by Dee

We wish to book a villa with 2 or 3 bedrooms for 2 weeks, for 5 people. We are getting married in May 2012. We have 23 guests in total. Our guests will be staying in various hotels/villas in Paphos. The ceremony is at 3pm, then a 2 hour cruise and then we would like to go back to our own villa at around 7.30pm for a few drinks and possibly a bbq done by caterers. My question is when booking a villa do I need to ask for the owners permission to hold an evening get together there? Thank you for your time.

Wedding receptionn at a rented villa

Hi Dee

I don't think you need to ask permission for holding a party at a villa you are renting. A wedding is no different from a party held by people on holiday.

The only problem I could foresee is that the party will become noisy and you get complaints from the neighbouring villas.

You may want to tell the owner out of courtesy but then you may find they try to charge you! I know that many weddings are held in private villas so I don't think you have a problem. If someone complains, just plead ignorance!
