Hideaway Restaurant in Pissouri, Cyprus

This tiny little restaurant is a real treasure. Tucked away down a flight of stone steps it is located BEHIND the rest of the tavernas in Pissouri square and the name of the restaurant is truly apt.

Run by friendly Panicos who used to have a restaurant at the top of Pissouri square (the Vrakas - now turned into a trendy cafe bar), Hideaway serves a mouthwatering selection of Cypriot vegetarian and meat specialities including huge plates of baked aubergine with garlic and onions, kolokithaki (courgettes with eggs and onion) and real Cypriot potato chips - none of that frozen rubbish here!

Make an effort to try some of the dishes at this restaurant when next in Pissouri. It's an excellent place for lunch. Turn left at the top of the square after the Vrakas cafe bar and take the next left - the restuarant is "hidden" away down the steps and looks very inviting!

Update November 2011 - took a group of ladies there for lunch from Dubai en route from Larnaca airport to Latchi. We had a superb mostly vegetarian lunch with stuffed veg, dips, gorgeous fresh salad and a huge plate of roast chicken and roast potatoes. It was supposed to be a "light" lunch and it cost just €12 euros per head. Bargain
