Gluten free product availability in Cyprus

by Jo
(England)

How easy it is to obtain gluten free products in Cyprus? We are visiting Cyprus in May staying in Coral bay and would like to know if gluten free bread and soya milk is available to buy on the island.

gluten free bread and other products
by: Helen

I have seen gluten free bread on sale at Papantoniou in Polis. They may not have it all the time but they certainly have sold it in the past. I guess it's like all niche but wanted products - they sell out fast. And Paps are notorious for getting something in but not re-stocking for ages.

Anothr possible option is Butcher Boy in Paphos as they now sell fancy breads - much better delicatessan than Olivers in my opinion.

The large supermarkets do not stock gluten free bread. There are some specialist shops like Olivers on the Polis Road and GB Foods in Coral Bay.

Buying gluten free bread in Cyprus
by: Helen

Yes all the big supermarkets have organic food sections and dairy products for soya milk plus gluten free bread.

You will struggle a little in the small supermarkets (called kiosks on just about every street corner) but visit one of the big ones like Papantoniou, Orphanides or E&S and you will be fine. Maybe bring a small supply of bread with you so you don't have to panic when you arrive.
