Easter in Polis

by Declan
(London)

My wife and I are regular visitors to Cyprus, and love the Polis / Argaka region in particular. We're currently planning our trips for 2010 (at least 2!).

I've noticed that Easter this year is synchronised for Western and Orthodox. This got me wondering if Easter was a good time to visit Polis? Do lots of the shops and restaurants shut down, or is it mostly business as usual except for a day or two? We can easily cope with Good Friday / Easter Sunday being "closed", I was just wondering if the festivities were likely to extend beyond this.

Lastly, can I just say what a fantastically useful site this is - particularly the best places to eat section!

Kind regards,

Declan.

Polis at Easter 2010
by: Helen

Declan, no need to worry about Easter being "closed" in Polis. All the restaurants will be open as it's their busiest time with everyone back for Easter and, although the shops will shut for either 1 or 2 days, the kiosks are normally open for milk and essentials.

My advice, get here a few days before to get some shopping in at Paps/butchers etc then make sure you have milk and bread to cover 2 days of closure. You can always eat out if desperate though the restaurants will be busy - though in Argaka Lisa's Place and Dimitri's (now run by Athos his son) should have plenty of room.

Thanks for the kind words abouot the site too:)

Helen
