Authentic Cyprus food at a great price

This delightful little Cyprus restaurant - Laona, is in the heart of the old town of Paphos.

Tucked away in a tiny side street, the taverna is frequented by lots of workers who go there for the great food and the incredible value for money. Always a good sign if the locals use a place regularly, in our view.

The restaurant is also very popular with ex pats and the walls are adorned with glowing magazine reviews from far and wide.

• Head down the main road through the old town, Archbishop Makarios III street.
• Find the off licence on the corner just after the first set of traffic lights.
• Turn right and Laona's is on your right after 30m.

Everything on the menu is traditional Cypriot cuisine, bought and cooked fresh that morning. Nothing costs more than €8.50. What a bargain!

We love all the dishes but our favourites are probably the rabbit stifado and the lamb with beans.

We always make sure there is time for a stop at THIS Cyprus restaurant - Laona, whenever we are in Paphos for the day!
