Border Crossing from Northern to Southern Cyprus

by Charlene
(Canada)

My mother, husband and I are taking a 9 day tour of Turkey in October and flying to Northern Cyprus for the purpose of traveling to either Larnaka or Paphos for 12 days. We hold Canadian passports.

Are we going to have an issue crossing? We will be returning to the North to catch our return flight home.

Thank you very much for your expert advice.

Crossing the border in Cyprus
by: Helen

When crossing the border, the only paperwork that needs to be completed is a signature and passport number on a white slip of paper. Your passport itself is not stamped.

You shouldn't have any problem crossing from North into South Cyprus even though you have arrived via Turkey. You do however need to decide how to cross as you will not be able to take a hire car over the border as there are government restrictions on insurance etc ie. you are not covered on the other side.

There is more information on crossing the border in Cyprus on my border crossings page.
