Atmosphere and Nightlife in Cyprus

by Adam
(Manchester)

We are a couple in our (early!) 30s and are looking to book a 10 day holiday in Cyprus, but not quite sure where.

We do not want wild nightlife, but it would be nice to go somewhere with atmosphere in the evenings with some nice restaurants/bars. We looked at Polis which seems to fit the bill, but we weren't too sure.

If anyone has any thoughts they would be gratefully received

Thanks!

It partly depends on when you are planning to travel. If it's during the summer months (June to Sept) then there is "atmosphere" everywhere. Polis is much quieter than Paphos or Larnaca, but we have some great beach bars along the coast and the tavernas in Polis and Latchi have regular music nights and there is also live music from bands and solo singers. Just get a copy of Pals, the local magazine to find out what is going on.

If you plan to travel in the quieter months, then there are not so many tourists around and unless you love nature (hiking/cycling) Polis and Latchi may be too quiet for you.

Paphos has a lot of nightclubs/loud bars along "bar street" but really aimed at the younger market! If it's chill out time, good food and atmosphere you want then yes Polis or Latchi is a good option or on the opposite side the island, try Protaras (but not Ayia Napa which is too hedonistic in high summer!)
